In December, 1990 in Sausalito, California a group of Native American scientists and elders presided over the launching of a traditional Haida canoe, the first one carved in more than sixty years, as a prelude to a trans-Pacific voyage. The goal of the Worldwide Indigenous Science Network (WISN) is to bring the ways of wisdom of native cultures throughout the world to modern consciousness in order to create a life-sustaining future for the planet. Michael Toms was present for the canoe launching, and talked with three WISN members about the crucial importance and value of native science to the spiritual and environmental health of the planet. Includes live recordings of the canoe launching. (hosted by Michael Toms)
