"Probably the most challenging aspect of consciousness studies is the idea that perhaps consciousness is non-local . . . there is a transpersonal capacity for the mind aspect of our being to reach out and to touch other people, even at a distance." suggests Schlitz. "We are only just beginning to look at the issue of subjective experience. It is beginning to broaden our sense of how big this question of consciousness is. . . . Bio

Schlitz is the director of research at the Institute of Noetic Sciences and senior scientist at the Geraldine Brush Cancer Research Institute at the California Pacific Medical Center.

The late Elizabeth Targ (1961-2002) was a psychiatrist and director of the Complementary Medicine Research Institute at California Pacific Medical Center and assistant clinical professor in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of California, San Francisco School of Medicine. She was the principal investigator for a National Institute of Health funded study of distant healing for people with AIDS.
