Bernadette Roberts (1931-2017), after spending nine years in a Catholic convent went on to earn degrees in philosophy and education, start a Montessori school, and raise four children. Here she shares the insights her full life has given her into the nature of self and its relationship with God, the action of grace in our lives, the spiritual value of suffering, the meaning of the Virgin Mary, the purpose of prayer, and more. This is an invitation to allow grace into our own lives, despite the sometimes surprising consequences. "Grace is God's life in us," she says. "It operates on a level beyond consciousness."
