From the experience of those who knew him and from his own gentle words of wisdom an inspiring portrait emerges of a genuine holy man and Sufi mystic. His message is a vivid contrast to the television images of Islamic extremists and the warlike views of Moslem fundamentalists. Bawa speaks from the mystical roots of Islam in the tradition of the Sufi poet Rumi, sometimes singing the holy praises of God. His message is one of peace and the oneness of all spiritual paths. An emphasis on the need for empathy, compassion, and unity in personal lives and societies is highlighted as well as the connection between inner peace and creating a more peaceful world. Also discussed are the challenges of discontentment and grief, and the importance of trusting in the present moment, and facing one's reality to achieve understanding and growth. This is a special documentary program produced exclusively for New Dimensions by David Freudberg. (Edited by David Freudberg)
