"You cannot underestimate the tragedy and horror of living with AIDS," says Rothschild. But he has also come to believe that science has taken huge leaps forward because of research with AIDS. His triumphant life-story is grounded in a knowing that every moment in life counts. "When you believe every moment counts, there is acceptance and not resistance." Rothschild's book, Signals: An Inspiring Story of Life After Life (Publishers Group West 2000), is an amazingly true account of a skeptic who learns, through his partner's death, that there is far more in heaven and earth than the human mind can begin to comprehend. His story is one of awakening, transformation and an abiding faith, all the while dealing with a monstrous illness. (hosted by Michael Toms)
