The author of some two dozen "science fantasy" novels (including her popular Darkover series), the late, Marion Zimmer Bradley, in her best selling The Mists of Avalon (Knopf 1983), has re-told the famous tale of King Arthur--from the point of view of the women involved. The result, in the novel and in this conversation, is the saga of humanity's turning away from Nature and the Goddess, toward guilt and suffering--and some clues for regaining our lost sense of wonder and power. A whirlwind visit to the realm of magic and myth, religion and ritual, this look behind the legends finds important parallels between the Druid-Christian conflict and our modern predicament.
