In this rich conversation, poet and spiritual teacher Mark Nepo invites us to rediscover language as a living doorway to the sacred as he explores how words—when traced to their roots—become thresholds to deeper awareness, connection, and healing. Rather than mere tools, words serve as companions that guide us into relationship with life, each other, and the unseen currents of meaning that sustain us. Through stories, etymology, and cross-cultural insights, Nepo reveals how language shapes perception—from understanding courage as something we enter into relationship with to reclaiming “genius” as an inner guiding spirit present in everyone. He challenges modern assumptions that isolate us from the whole, inviting a return to kinship, where every conversation can become a spiritual practice. With warmth and depth, Nepo reminds us that words, rightly held, restore our shared humanity and awaken a reverence for life. (hosted by Justine Willis Toms)
