Professor emeritus of religious history and literature at New York University, James Carse has revived an ancient tradition by writing the first full, all-new gospel of Jesus in 1,500 years. Carse talks candidly about what led him to write a modern-day version of the life and teachings of Jesus, the many faces of Jesus throughout history, and the reasons he has been portrayed in so many different lights. Carse also points out that "in the gospels, an underevaluated feature is the central role that women play in the entire life of Jesus.
