The mind will always hold mysteries for us, and it seems even more mysterious as scientific research indicates that our current concepts about the nature of mind may be utterly inadequate. Dossey, Schlitz and others are conducting research on parapsychology, prayer healing and other phenomena that radically call into question what may be possible, as well as what may be missing from the mechanistic scientific approach itself. “It is stretching our conceptual paradigms,” says Dossey, “...to the breaking point.” We hear of experiments that are giving scientific substance to concepts like “love” and “the soul,” and their implications for the future of medicine, psychology and spirituality. 

Bio

Larry Dossey, M.D. is the executive editor of Explore: The Journal of Science and Healing, and served as co-chair of the Panel on Mind/Body Interventions of the NIH Office of Alternative Medicine.
