Welcome to New Dimensions Radio!
Most of us have very few models for what it means to be in a long-term relationship - really long-term, that is, one that lasts a lifetime. What does it take to make a partnership last? Am I better off with a partner who's a lot like me, or with someone who can balance my stronger traits? How much control do I have over my own life choices when I make a commitment to someone else? What can I do when the inevitable conflicts arise? Linda and Charlie Bloom have been partners for more than thirty-five years. On the long and sometimes bumpy road, they've learned some practical answers to these and many more questions. As Linda explains, "Couples don't homogenize over time. They become more uniquely themselves. What the happy couples seem to be doing is making a lot of space for the differences to peacefully coexist." Through their own experience and their work coaching other couples, Linda and Charlie have developed a valuable tool chest of information and skills that can help all of us overcome the pitfalls and find deep meaning and joy in our relationships.
