Deep Ecology for the 21st Century, Part 3: Deep Questioning – The Eight Principles Of Deep Ecology with Fritjof Capra, Arne Naess, George Sessions, Doug Thomkins, Harold Glasser and Stephanie Mills

Deep Ecology is so named for its capacity to look at the deeper social, economic and spiritual questions behind the environmental crisis. Fritjof Capra, author of The Tao of Physics gives an overview of what Deep Ecology means. Arne Naess, the highly respected Norwegian writer who coined the term, describes its most basic principles. He is recorded here speaking with George Sessions, co-author of Deep Ecology for the Twenty-First Century (Shambhala 1995), who is also recognized as a central figure in the Deep Ecology movement. Expanding on these ideas are Doug Tompkins, who single-handedly created a nature preserve in Chile; physicist and engineer Harold Glasser, editor of The Selected Works of Arne Naess; and Stephanie Mills, author of In Service of The Wild: Restoring and Reinhabiting Damaged Land. “Deep Ecology is extremely radical,” says Mills. “It could systematically overturn just about every assumption we have about how we live.” Don’t say we didn’t warn you! (hosted by Michael Toms)
